Chicago, a Sneak Peek, and a SALE!

Ahhh!! I had the BEST weekend in Chicago with these ladies!! I seriously don't know what I would do without them... I love them all!! Check out some of the MOST INSPIRING women I have ever met:

Aren't they all so pretty??!?

{By the end of this vacation, my smile hurt... I have never smiled or laughed so much in my life!!}

I also got to meet sweet, Melissa and Nicole from Lesson Plan SOS & I had so much fun with them!

Amy and I brought our husbands along with us... they are such good sports!!
And I think they became BFFs by the end!!

It was so hard to say goodbye to all these ladies at the end of the weekend.
 I am so, SO sad that we all live so far away from each other!
 Thank goodness for modern technology, so we can always stay in touch.

Check out all of their awesome blogs... they are SO worth following!
You will also find a wealth of resources and ideas from them all:

 Cheryl from Primary Graffiti
Kim Adsit from The Kinder Gals
Kathleen from Growing Kinders
Michelle from Fabulous in First
Deanna from Mrs. Jump's Class
Amanda from One Extra Degree

On the airplane {to and from Chicago}, I started working on this unit. My kiddos need some serious help with the number line! I hope to have it finished and posted within a few weeks. :)

Annnndddddd.... My TpT shop will be on sale today and tomorrow! All my lessons will be on sale, but be sure to check out my Oh, So SPOOKY unit and Candy Corn Measuring unit for Halloween!

Thanks for the image, Abby!!

who is the teacher wife?

I started the Teacher Wife blog in February 2011 to share my experiences as a teacher, because I enjoy blogging. I never dreamed of what it would become! I have made some life-long friends who live all over the world and they have helped me become a better teacher and person.

I try to keep this blog school related, so I don't usually post information about myself.
However, today I am linking up with Mrs. Lemons' Tell Me More Linky Party!

So... a little bit about me:

1. See that cutie patootie in the picture above? Well that HUNK {Dave} is all mine!  He is my best friend and I couldn't imagine life without him. He is my rock. He also balances me out - I always tend to make impulse decisions and he thinks things through. I'm creative and he is logical. We actually couldn't be more opposite from each other, but I love him anyways! {Seriously! Sometimes I have to make two different dinners, because we don't even like the same food!!}

2. Dave is exactly 12 inches taller than me. A WHOLE FOOT, PEOPLE!
And yes, I always have to get on a step stool to kiss him... ;)

3. I was married in this beautiful LDS temple.

4. Because, I am a Mormon.

5. If I was allowed to wear my pajamas {or sweats} to school everyday, then I would. In fact, I am always trying to convince my students that they want to earn a pajama day for good behavior!! You know you've had too many pajama days when they don't think that sounds fun anymore...

6. My niece {in the picture above} was in my first grade class {my first year of teaching} and my second grade class {my second year of teaching}. Even if I wasn't her aunt, she would still be my favorite student!

7. My other darling niece {in the picture below} will be in my first grade class this fall! We are both excited!

8. I live next door to my sister. I see this view a lot and I think it's better than any sunset or ocean!
{Please excuse the blurry picture. It was taken on my iphone and it was zoomed in.}

9. So far everything is about my family... I can't help it! I got a good one!

10. I adore my nieces and nephews and I can't wait until I can add my own kids to this CRAZY bunch!
{NO - this is not an announcement!}

9. I've been on the cover of a magazine and I didn't even know it!
I had a friend mention it causally to me one day and I was like "WHAAA??"

10. I'm still a kid at heart, which is why I love being a teacher.
{And I secretly wish that I could still pull off this hairdo!}

Go link up with Amy! I would love to learn more about you!

home sweet home

I am a very lucky lady and let me tell you why:
I just spent the last two weeks sightseeing in Europe.

It was amazing, to say the least.

Italy and Greece. I loved them both.

Thank you to my wonderful in-laws for the trip of a lifetime!

This vacation inspired me to create a Vacation Journal for those
students who go on vacation during the school year.

Click the image below to download it for free!

How do you help your absent students catch up? This is something I struggle with.
I don't usually do lots of worksheets, so to catch a student up I need to walk them through the activity. Sometimes it is hard to find the time to teach one-on-one like that. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

all about me...

My Favorite Class!
I have finally updated my "about me" tab!
-----------------------------------------------
 Hello There! My name is Lindsey. I am a first year, first grade teacher in Utah... soon to be a second year, second grade teacher. (Yes you read that right... If all goes according to plan then I am looping with my firsties to second!  I couldn't be more excited, because I have a great group of kids!) I am a newlywed and I love being married to my hunky husband, Dave. I have started this blog to share my adventures as I experience new opportunities through teaching and marriage. ♥

 Like I have mentioned before, I am a first grade teacher.
Those who know me well know that I mention that a lot.

I am so proud of it. I love calling myself a "first grade teacher".

Even though my job can be stressful, I love it!

My First Grade Teacher & I

I have a terrific group of kids.
It is amazing how much I truly love each and every one of them.
I love seeing them progress and learn new things.
It seriously makes me giddy!

I am so excited to go to second grade with them,
because I don't think my heart could handle letting them go!

My Niece & I

I am teaching first grade at the same elementary school I attended as a little girl... in fact, I am teaching across the hall from my first grade teacher (she is still in first grade--it is so fun to work with her)!

I also love having my niece in my class!
It is so special and she is the perfect student!

My husband and I were married in June 2009. It's been almost 2 years, but I think we are still newlyweds! We met 4 years ago while he was golfing and I was working...
the rest is history.

We don't have any kids (yet)... I have 22 first graders to keep me busy instead!

I hope you enjoy this blog as I reflect on my life as a teacher!

Thanks for reading!

Linking up with:

you know you're a first grade teacher when...

  • you get a bajillion hugs a day - sometimes even when giving instructions to the class
  • you get called "mom" on a regular basis (one time I was called GRANDMA--WHAT?)
  • you can have a "pajama day" anytime you want... we had one last friday :)
  • your students still have enough of an imagination to believe anything you say
  • your desk is piled high with pictures/homemade trinkets/wilted weeds (aka flowers)

a few of my favorite things...

Don't you just love that movie? I grew up watching it and I know all the songs (thanks mom)!

I am linking up with Jodi over at Fun in First... join the fun and list your favorite things, too!

I could NOT live without my iphone:

...or my chi:

I am in LOVE with my wedding ring:

...and tulips:

I am addicted to:

...and Cafe Rio (if you have never had it--you are missing out):

...oh ya, and Diet Dr. Pepper!
What are you favorite things?
