Word Families, Number Lines, and Our Elf!

OhMyGoodness! Today felt like Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday all wrapped up into one! I don't know if it's because time passed slowly or if we accomplished a lot! Either way... is it Friday yet??!

My little cuties have been working hard in their word family books! I originally posted about them {here}, but I wanted to update you on how it's going. Each student has their own word family book that they keep in their desk. We pull it out about two times a week and we do a word family together each time. I also put the pages in the order we will be learning about each word family and I added my own page numbers to the bottom of each page. Every time we work on these, I remind my students to do their best writing and coloring, because they get to take these books home at the end of the year and share them with their families! I love how they take me so seriously and these books are turning out so nice! Have I ever told you how much I love manipulating teaching first graders?!?

We have also been reviewing our number line skills {I had a few students who kept counting the number they started on... so I had to correct that ASAP!} by using activities from my Number Line Packet on TpT. My students loved playing the Number Line Race game!

I'll post more about our Elf on the Shelf a little later this week. My students are completely smitten and they love her to pieces!! One of my favorite quotes was from a little boy who walked in the classroom and said, " Hey! Where is the Gnome??!" I seriously died when he said that because he is such a sweet spirit!! Maybe he is onto something... A Gnome on the Shelf! Do you think it'll sell on TpT?

Tomorrow our elf will bring us this Pete the Cat book and I know my students will be thrilled!
We are all about Pete the Cat and they are definitely the most read books in our classroom!!
Pete the Cat Saves Christmas

Raise your hand if you love Pete!!
-xoxo-
